Only what is needed to quote, schedule, carry out and bill the work:
Contact details — your name, phone number, email address and property address, given when you fill in a form on this site, register a property for snow clearance, or get in touch directly.
Job details — what you asked for, notes taken on site, photographs of the work where relevant, quotes, invoices and payment records.
Site analytics — anonymised visit statistics through Google Analytics, so we can see which pages people find useful. This does not identify you personally.
To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote, book and confirm appointments, keep you updated about work in progress, send invoices and receipts, and keep the records a licensed contractor is required to keep. If you are on the snow clearance round, we use your address and driveway details to plan the route and price the work.
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your own job — appointment confirmations, arrival times, quotes, invoices, contracts to sign, and requests to add a card securely. If you are on a service round, we may text to offer that round's work and ask whether you want it. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can ask us to reach you only by phone or email instead, and we will.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. It reaches other companies only where they run part of the service on our behalf, and only as far as that job requires:
Twilio delivers our text messages. Resend delivers our email. Stripe handles card payments — your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our systems. Render hosts this website and our booking system. Google provides Maps and Analytics.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
Job, quote and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and contractor record-keeping rules require, and for as long as they might be needed for a warranty question or a dispute. Enquiries that never become work are cleared out once they are plainly no longer live. Ask us to delete your details and we will, except where we are required to keep a record.
Data is held in an access-controlled database, reachable only by James's own logged-in account, and moved over encrypted connections. Card numbers are never held by us at all — they stay with Stripe. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects your information.
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or tell us to stop contacting you by any particular method. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Email info@handyman-james.com for anything else — it goes straight to James.
This is a home repair business. The site is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting how we contact you will be told to you directly.
